The Power of Your Donation
Your donation provides hope and opportunity to thousands of women in Honduras. They do not want your charity, just a chance. A chance to work so they can earn income they would not otherwise have had a chance of earning. By donating to Adelante, you are helping empower women to make positive changes in their lives. One woman’s success inspires many more with the confidence to transform their lives through microfinance.
Honduras is the second poorest country in the Western Hemisphere, where a staggering 72% of the rural population lives in poverty . Rural areas are often excluded from national development strategies and receive little assistance from the ¨far-away¨ government. Adelante promotes rural development by stimulating local economies through access to microcredit. Your donation fosters economic development in otherwise excluded rural areas.
Your donation to Adelante benefits the children of Honduras. Since women are the recipients of microloans, Adelante reaches an entire household through a single borrower. When women earn more income they spend it on their education, nutrition, health, and living conditions. Above all, raising a child's level of education opens up future opportunities and contributes to a healthier society. Support a poverty alleviation strategy that impacts future generations.
"At first, I was nervous to take out a loan but now I'm not afraid because I know I can handle it with Adelante." Gloria is shown above with her three month old granddaughter, who now attends assembly meetings with her. Gloria sells tortillas in her house and hopes to receive another loan in order to buy a machine which would allow her to make tortillas faster to meet the high demand. She has had four loans with Adelante so far.
