Adelante is seeking a Development Assistant to support the International Development Coordinator with fundraising and outreach duties to expand its microfinance and education programs in our headquarters located in La Ceiba, Honduras. The job will require a candidate who speaks Spanish, is able to adapt to living in Honduras, be a team player, and be able to work in a fast-paced international non-profit environment. The candidate should be a self-starter ready to make innovative contributions to the organization's development. The Development Assistant will report directly to the International Development Coordinator based in La Ceiba. Additional guidance and support will be provided from the Director of Development based in Denver, CO.
-Grant research and support in the grant solicitation process
-Manage social media accounts and expand Adelante's social media presence
-Provide general content support for marketing materials, website, and blog
-Offer support as needed for other initiatives including campaigns, immersion trips, donor outreach and fundraising events
-Strong verbal and written communication skills
-Grant research or other proven research experience
-Fluent English and advanced conversational Spanish
-Ability to work independently while managing a variety of tasks
-Familiarity with social mediaDemonstrated interest in microfinance
-Ability to travel independently within Honduras
-BA or extensive coursework in Marketing, International Development, Communications or other related field
-Opportunity to further develop fundraising/marketing skills
-Work experience within an international non-profit dedicated to empowering rural Honduran women
-Support in finding local housing
Commitment and Compensation
Adelante is seeking a candidate willing to work full-time for a minimum of six months beginning in January 2014 with flexible start date. Preference will be given to those candidates able to commit to a longer period of time. A locally competitive salary of $500/month will be provided and any work expenses will be covered. Out of country relocation costs will not be covered.
Adelante is always looking for highly motivated individuals to volunteer, but we currently do not have pre-arranged volunteer placements. We welcome volunteers who can initiate a project or offer a service that could contribute to the success of Adelante either in the United States or in Honduras. We also welcome students or professionals undertaking research about microfinance.
